Field Trip to Galeri Petronas#tanahairku

Galeri Petronas#tanahairku

27th January 2016,  my friends and I went to KLCC Galeri Petronas with our lecture Dr.Carmen, tutor Ms.Ezatti and Miss Raja~. The theme of this Gallery is tanahairku. There are 5 section with many of exhibition. This exhibition gives us a glimpse of Malaysia life through PETRONAS' commercials over that past two decades. Actually before this field trip, I doesn't expect too much. Because lecture want us to go and do the assignment. But after this all, I totally change my mind about Malaysia. Whao~so this is what Malaysia looks like! I saw the beautiful behind the Malaysia. I could said that Malaysian gave a new life to our country.

I brought along my Nikon D7000 and start to find the best angle to shoot. A lot of inspiration that can find out from here. When we step in, my friends and I start discover a lot of exhibition and start take photo for each other. All the commercials of the exhibition really give a lot of inspiration, it make me also want to make a commercial like this.

So this is the question that lecture gave us, Question b- the section of the exhibition that we liked the most.
my friend Vincent and the bus stop - nobody's child
This is section 2-Our diversity makes us beautiful. And the exhibition is nobody's child. The section 2 is about Malaysia have different races but it doesn't mean we have different faith. Just like what section 2 noted that "as Malaysian, we will always have faith in our similarities despite our different belief". And the exhibition that I like most is nobody's child. This commercial showing that a primary school student call Tan Thiam Hock. During in class, his teacher asking them to draw what reunion dinner looks like. Reunion dinner is the culture that all Chinese carry out during Chinese New Year. Every Chinese will go back their hometown or we call it "kampung", to have reunion dinner with their parents. So every students in the class stared to draw reunion dinner, except Thiam Hock. At the first, we thought that Thiam Hock is a naughty boy, because he don't want to listen teacher to draw the reunion dinner. After school ended, all of the students at the bus stop waiting their parents to fetch them back. All student went back home already, but only Thiam Hock still waiting at the bus stop alone. After a while, a elderly India lady call out him. And the moment touched me was the boy started to cry in front this elderly lady. It because Thiam Hock never eat reunion dinner and don't know how to draw it. The elderly lady try to comfort him. After this, the elderly lady brought Thiam Hock back to house for orphans together. So we revealed that Thiam Hock is actually an orphan.

This commercial show a lot of meaning and subtext. The part I like is this commercial show that the relationship between the elderly lady and Thiam Hock. They put a song in inside this commercial, the song is call "home of sweet " in mandarin. It showed that our home is the safety and happiness place, They want use to remember that home is the place we grow up. So during Chinese New Year, every working adult going back their hometown and accompany their parents. Parents take care of us since we baby, so we feel a lot of happiness from our parents. But Thiam Hock can't feel the love of parent anymore. So here I dare to say hope you guys during this Chinese New Year must go back home and take care your parents when your parents still alive!haha! Sorry Im so rude here~~. Oh yah, this section is totally related to overall theme of the exhibition because the relationship between the elderly India lady and the Chinese boy. The different races of them show the love and rely to each other. They really looks like family although they are different races. So it totally shows that the them of section 2 which is "our diversity makes us beautiful.

Come to second question, which is question d-Nostalgia object that significant to me
teng teng
This what we called "teng teng". This is the traditional game that every Malaysian played. I still remember during my childhood, there is no cellphone, no ipad, no gameboy, no playstaion(PS1,PS2), no XBox, no computer, no laptop. OK~that fine for me,but the horrible thing is NO WIFI!!!. What a horrible world! What we have is this traditional game which can created to play for everyone. It really nostalgia for me it's because during my childhood I always play with my school friends and neighbor. This the way that we spend our time without WIFI. I believe that our parents also played this traditional during their childhood. We can see that, this can pull our relationship between our parents and us because the connection of played same traditional game.

What really this traditional game significant to me is because I realize that this traditional game also played by different race of us. This game represent what Malaysia looks like. Another meaning can say that it represent unity of different races. It make every audiences think back their childhood after saw this object of exhibition .

Conclusion, thank you Dr Carmen and Miss Ezzati to brought us came here. I learned and gain a lot through this field trip. There is a lot of creative commercials that i can learn from it.I hope can help me in my future career. Last but not least, I rediscover that every aspect of the exhibition is themed to reflect our unifying values as Malaysia. Hope that we can keep this values of Malaysia to our next generation and also to another countries.I proud to be Malaysian. I love Malaysia "again".

Time Capsule ~

Plastic recorder

The item that i propose contributing into a time capsule is a music instrument. I believes that everyone of us was familiar with this music instrument. This music instrument is call recorder.
Recorders can be made out of wood, plastic, or ivory. Usually the recorder that we use was made from plastic. This recorder is the first music instrument that I learned from primary school. After that, i try to learn another music instrument like guitar and keyboard. But for me, recorder was my first music instrument that inspire me a lot during my childhood. Because it really easy to learn by children. During my primary school, i still remember my teacher will taught us learn to play new one song for one week. When holding the recorder, I'm feel like musical! This is the best feeling ever because i can play the music and create a new song i want. When i was a child, I can't believe that a lot of inspiration can come out from my mind when playing recorder to create new music.

Wooden recorder

I believe that everyone of us also learned to play recorder when during our primary school. It really fun when you realize that recorder is your first music instrument that you learned. Now you can't say that you does no know how to play music instrument and never play it before. So I officially announce that you also a musical too!!

In the year 2120, recorder won't exist anymore. Many advanced instrument will replace old music instrument or..during that time, people won't play music anymore. Let just say, during that time music already disappear. No people care about how music express our life. I can imagine that it really a horrible world. So, when the time capsule opened, i hope this recorder can remind them don't forget the origin of music instrument and how music create a meaningful life.
