Second Field Trip : Baling

3rd April 2016, We have a field trip to Five Arts Centre. When my friends and I step in the Five Arts Centre, the first view I saw is the decoration of lighting. There a lot of light bulbs hanging. And the second is the paper also hanging there as well, the content of the paper is all about the baling talks. Some more on the ground, a lot of books arrange nicely. The books is all about Chin Peng. 

During that day,  we enjoy the performance "Baling". I really admire that what the performers and production team have done. They did very well. Great job! They totally bring us to the situation during the Baling Talks. The emotion of the performers truly show the situation like how the political characters talk during the 1955 Baling Talks meeting before independent of Malaysia. I can feel that how serious and historical moment over there. "Baling" is the document performance that reflect how the public heroes and enemies are created.  

First section of the performance attract me. The helper guide us go up to second floor. I saw all the papers stuck on the wall until the we can't even see the wall. After that, the performance start with three performers. The situation over there very hot. There only got 4 small stand fans. They want us to feel that situation that how the Baling talks feel like. The performers strongly grabbed the paper to show the emotion when during half of the performance. Next, they brought us back to first floor. They want us to expect that what will happened next. So I think that this is a good method to show the interaction between the performers and audiences. Next, They show the video that how the Chin Peng and Tunkul Abdul Rahman debated. Next section is the performer performed around the books that already arranged over there. They also took the book and arranged another way. The last section was they sat down and started to debated. 

Thanks for the performers Anne James, Fahmi Fadzil, Faiq Syazwan Kuhiri, Imri Nasution. And also all the production team members. Their effort make the performance successfully to send the message to the audiences.   

Once again, we witness that the history that the debates between Tunkul Abdul Rahman, David Marshall and Chin Peng against the backdrop of 2016 Malaysia. There are debates that the compromise of nationhood. We could not said that who is wrong, who is right. Because both side want to protect our country. But they just only use different way. In my perception, we should appreciate our country because of them. It good to experience that the historical moment on the spot in order that can build awareness among us and remember that Malaysia our country. Good to be Malaysian!!
